The next-generation MINI is expected to make its public debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the British automaker has released a new video teasing it.
Built on a new front-wheel-drive platform, the 2014 MINI has been spied in recent months and will make its actual debut at the Oxford plant where it’s built. Under the hood, the new MINI will feature a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine while the high-performance variants will get a new turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant from BMW.
2014 MINI Cooper to Make LA Auto Show Debut
The 2014 MINI Cooper S with its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine will have 192 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, while a short-term overboost feature will kick torque up to 222 lb-ft. The 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine will have 136 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque with the overboost feature bumping it up to 170 lb-ft. Lastly, a diesel powerplant will be available in the form of a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder with 116 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque.
